It is with heartfelt sympathy that I share in the great loss of Dr. Jeri Logemann. I did not know her as intimately as many, yet she had a significant impact on my professional life, my personal life, and the life of my son as he recovered from a simultaneous cerebral vascular accident and traumatic brain injury. She has mentored and taught many. Her foresight and professionalism helped to forge the foundation for the birth of our specialty of swallowing and swallowing disorders, and the establishment of ASHA special interest groups and Specialty Boards. If not for her dedication and collaboration with colleagues to form a solid foundation of ethical practice and research, many of us would find ourselves, and our lives, to be in quite different circumstances. Her foresight and rich depth of knowledge enriched what has become a profession of giving evidence-based standards of excellent care to our patients and families. She will be greatly missed.
