I would like to introduce this issue of the newsletter with a personal thank you to all of you out there advocating for our profession through vehicles at various state and federal levels. These grassroots efforts do make a difference in policy-making, and appear to be making a positive impact on modification of the $1,500 rehabilitation cap. The Steering Committee and I believe that timely dissemination of policy issues that affect our professional practice is essential. In order to expedite communication of these issues, I have been posting any relevant information that I receive from our ASHA staff and officials on the swallowing and swallowing disorders electronic mail list. Also, I encourage you to read your ASHA Leader for policy and practice updates.
