I am very happy to introduce you to our pre-Convention issue. In the summer edition, we met Lisa Newman, who has assumed the position of Editor of this valued source of professional communication, continuing education, and reference. A Newsletter Committee has been formed on the recommendation of the division’s Steering Committee to develop a strategic plan for publication and to further increase the applicability of its contents to our affiliates. Lisa will provide you with a summary of this strategic plan, which includes the option of continuing education credits at no additional cost to division affiliates, regular publication deadlines, sponsored advertising, covered topics identified by our members, and more. Also, we will be providing you with an index of all Newsletter issues from its inception. I would like to personally thank Kim Selent and Maleah Stewart, University of Georgia and Georgia State graduate student interns at Saint Joseph’s Hospital of Atlanta, for their contributions on the project. The preparation of the Newsletter has been and will continue to be a significant effort that requires dedication and commitment from our member volunteers. Thank you to Lisa, Jean White (ASHA managing editor for the division publications), and committee members for all of your work. Also, we greatly appreciate the continued contributions of Lynn Brady Wagner and Pete Johnson, who provide us with quality and value added information regarding ethical issues and professional practices in the areas of evaluation and treatment of swallowing disorders.
