  4. Staffing structures and services. What type of dysphagia evaluation procedures are provided at your facility, i.e., screening, bedside/clinical assessment, videofluoroscopy, FEES? What range of treatment services are provided by your department, i.e., inpatient only, outpatient only, individual, group. What is the staffing structure of your dysphagia service?

  5. Functional Outcomes Measurement. Are you doing any outcomes measurement? If so, what are you measuring and what tools are you utilizing?

  6. Reimbursement. Has managed care affected reimbursement for dysphagia services? Has managed care affected treatment frequency? Who is responsible for obtaining authorization for dysphagia services? If authorization cannot be obtained, what do you do?

  7. Clinical practice. What components of your clinical practice have been impacted by managed care? Who makes the decision when dysphagia services are provided? What type of services are provided? Who can provide these services? Has your care delivery been affected, i.e., shorter treatment sessions, use of paraprofessionals, group vs. individual treatment, inability to render services? Do speech-language pathologist's perform video fluoroscopies with or without the supervision of a radiologist? Have you changed diagnostic systems or protocols?
