Below is a draft of Professional Competencies in Medically-Related Speech-Language Pathology. These competencies were drawn from specialty area lists or invited reviewer comments submitted by special interest divisions in supervision, voice, gerontology, AAC, multicultural and linguistically diverse populations, language learning and disorders in language acquisition, dysphagia, and neurogenic speech and language disorders. The Board of Division Coordinators formed a working group, including Lee Ann Golper (chair), Elaine Silliman, Joan Glickstein, Lyle Lloyd, and Cathy Lazarus, to compile lists submitted by the divisions. These global competencies, as well as comments on and a revision of the “20 Dyphagia Competencies,” are included in this newsletter for your review. Please send any comments to Cathy Lazarus.
